Having read previous novels from C.J. Rutherford (The Never Series), “Treaters” was a whole new ballgame. While the story and genre were completely different, I felt right at home with Rutherford’s writing style. Listen, any story that starts off with this great hook—“Expletive, expletive, expletive, expletive! My heart hammered in my chest as I heard the claws and talons sweep the leaves and undergrowth away” has got to be a gripping tale of horror and survival, and “Treaters” is all of that and more. Great characters entwined in a tautly plotted story make for an exciting, fast paced read. I loved this story and hope Rutherford writes more in this genre.
